...who have worn the uniform of our country. One day is not enough to set aside to honor your commitment or the commitment of those whose legacy you keep.
I never wore the uniform, and:
I have never been truly hungry.
I have never been truly thirsty.
I have never been in unbearable weather.
I have never been out of touch with my family.
I have never been threatened because of my beliefs.
I have never been "in harm's way".
I have never had to sleep out in the cold, or unbearable heat.
I have never had to question whether the person I am encountering was a friend, or an enemy.
I have never done any of these things because of you and those who came before you. I thank God for you, and for the liberty you protect. I hope someone says "thank you" on Nov. 11.
